A note from Alex
Groove is now Helply
A complete helpdesk, rebuilt from the ground up for AI.
Alex Turnbull, founder and CEO
About 1,300 companies opened Groove this morning, the way they have every morning for up to fourteen years. If you are one of them, the first thing to know is that nothing about your account changed overnight, and nothing is scheduled to.
The name on the website did.
The company that makes Groove is now Helply, and Helply is also the name of the new helpdesk we have spent the last two years building. This post is about why, and what it does and does not mean for you.
Why the name changed
We started Groove in 2011 because helpdesk software for small teams was enterprise software wearing a costume. That was a real problem, and Groove was a real answer to it.
For most of those fourteen years, the job of a helpdesk was routing a conversation to the right person quickly.
Then the job changed.
A large share of support work can now be finished before a person opens the ticket at all. A shared inbox that only routes conversations is solving the smaller half of the problem.
We could have bolted AI onto Groove. Plenty of companies did that to their helpdesks, and the result is usually a chat widget with a robot in it.
We built Helply instead.
And once we had built the helpdesk we believed should exist today, maintaining two separate brands stopped making much sense. So the company is Helply. Groove remains the product thousands of teams have used for years, and Helply is what we are building for what comes next.
Why we rebuilt instead of patching
When we pulled the numbers on how customers actually use Groove, the thing that stood out was not the average account. It was the workarounds.
One team runs 143 mailboxes. Another keeps 10,940 tags. A third has written 412 automation rules. Across the customer base there are 60,737 saved replies and 4,904 saved views.
That is not power users being clever. That is fourteen years of people building scaffolding around a product whose simple version became too small for them, because the alternative was leaving.
Every one of those numbers is somebody solving a problem Groove should have solved.
You cannot rewrite the foundation of a live product while more than a thousand companies run their support on top of it.
But you can build the thing you would have built if you knew then what you know now.
Helply is that. Built by the same team, without the 2011 decisions underneath it.
What changes for Groove customers
Nothing.
I want to be specific about that, because “nothing changes” is a sentence people have heard before from companies that then changed everything.
- Your login has not moved. Same URL, same subdomain, same password.
- Your price has not changed. There is no price change scheduled.
- There is no forced migration. No deadline, no notice period, nothing you need to reconnect.
- Groove keeps running. It stays fast, secure and supported by the same team that answers your tickets today.
What is true is that new product development is happening in Helply.
If you have been waiting for a feature in Groove that never arrived, that is the honest reason. It is also the reason Helply exists.
If you want to try Helply
Helply is priced differently from Groove, and the difference is one of the things I am proudest of.
Seats are free.
Invite as many people as you want and get every feature of the helpdesk without paying per user. You pay for the work AI does. The billing rules are written out on our pricing page so you can see exactly what uses AI credits and what does not.
For Groove customers specifically: you can open a Helply account today alongside your Groove account. Nothing gets turned off on the Groove side.
If you decide you want to move, tell us and we will bring your data across with you.
If you decide you do not, Groove will be there on Monday exactly as it was on Friday.
I would rather earn the move than schedule it.
If you are new here
You probably arrived because someone sent you a Groove link.
Groove was the helpdesk we started fourteen years ago and bootstrapped into a product used by thousands of companies.
Helply is what that team built next.
It has everything you would expect from a modern helpdesk, rebuilt from the ground up around AI agents that can investigate, respond, take action and work alongside your team.
The pricing page will tell you what it costs, and the calculator will tell you what it costs for your support volume specifically.
The part I want to say plainly
Renaming a company people have bought from for more than a decade is asking for trust twice.
Once when they picked you, and again when you change the name on the door.
We are asking for that trust by not forcing anyone anywhere.
Groove will keep doing the job you bought it to do. Helply is there when you are ready to see what we built next.
No deadline. No forced migration.
I would rather make Helply good enough that you want to move.
The name on the website changed. Your inbox did not.
