Intercom Pricing Explained: Seats, Fin and the Full Monthly Bill

Intercom pricing explained: seats run $39 to $139 monthly ($29 to $132 billed yearly), and Fin bills $0.99 per outcome. See Copilot, Pro and 3 team bills.

The Intercom quote on your desk has four lines: seats, Copilot, Fin outcomes and a usage estimate for SMS and WhatsApp. Two hires start next quarter, so the seat and Copilot lines grow first. For existing customers, that WhatsApp estimate can change on 1 December 2026, when Intercom starts billing per message.

Fin closed chat after chat in your trial, or all year if you're renewing. On a paid plan, Intercom bills $0.99 for each chat Fin resolves, so 1,000 resolutions a month add $990.

Price every line before you sign. Then compare Intercom bills at 3, 10 and 25 seats with the same teams on Helply, and see when Intercom costs less.

Intercom Pricing Plans Compared: Seat Price, Lite Seats and Features

Intercom sells three plans, priced per seat each month: Essential $39, Advanced $99 and Expert $139 ($29, $85 and $132 billed yearly). Every plan needs at least one full seat, and Intercom bills in US dollars only.

PlanPer seat a month, billed monthlyPer seat a month, billed yearlyLite seats includedWhat the plan adds
Essential$39$29NoneBase for every plan: free live chat, inbound email and inbound WhatsApp; Fin per outcome
Essential, new customers$29$19NoneSame as Essential; the discount lasts while you stay subscribed
Advanced$99$8520Workflows for advanced automations, social channels, advanced custom reports
Expert$139$13250SLAs, HIPAA support, SSO, multibrand Messenger, multiple Help Centers, real-time dashboard

Yearly billing costs 5% to 26% less per seat than monthly, depending on the plan. Intercom limits self-serve monthly billing to Essential and Advanced, so ask about monthly terms before you pick Expert.

On a yearly plan, you can't remove seats or add-ons until renewal. If you raise your committed seat count mid-term, Intercom prorates the added seats over the rest of the yearly term. Intercom bills any teammate beyond that count monthly, at list price and without the yearly discount.

Essential at $39 a Seat ($29 Yearly)

Essential lists at $39 a seat a month ($29 billed yearly). New customers pay $29 instead ($19 billed yearly), and Intercom applies that discount to all seats "for as long as you remain subscribed."

Every plan, Essential included, carries free live chat and inbound email, plus inbound WhatsApp, Telegram and Discord. Fin runs on all three plans at $0.99 per outcome, and each full seat gets 10 free Copilot conversations a month. Essential has no lite seats and no workflows for advanced automations.

Essential fits a small team that answers chat and email with Fin on the front line.

Advanced at $99 a Seat ($85 Yearly)

Advanced adds workflows, social channels and advanced custom reports. It includes 20 lite seats, which let teammates add notes, @mention colleagues and view reports but not reply to customers.

Pick Advanced when you need multi-step automation or social messages in the same inbox.

Expert at $139 a Seat ($132 Yearly)

Expert is the only plan with SLAs, HIPAA support, SSO and identity management, multibrand Messenger and multiple Help Centers. It adds a real-time dashboard and 50 lite seats.

Expert suits teams with response-time targets, regulated health data or several brands to support. Confirm monthly terms first, because self-serve monthly billing covers only Essential and Advanced.

How Much Does Intercom's Fin AI Agent Cost?

Fin costs $0.99 per outcome on every Intercom plan, on top of seats, and $9.99 when the outcome is a sales qualification. Intercom never bills more than one outcome in a conversation, however many actions Fin takes. Those rates cover Fin over chat and email inside Intercom.

In October 2026, Fin's website claimed an average resolution rate of 76% across more than 12,000 customers but gave no method or period. If Fin resolved 76% of 2,000 conversations, the resolution line alone would reach $1,504.80 a month.

What Counts as a Fin Outcome?

Intercom bills five kinds of Fin outcome: resolution, Procedure handoff, disqualification, qualification and self-serve routing. Four cost $0.99 each, and a sales qualification costs $9.99.

OutcomePriceWhen Intercom bills it
Resolution$0.99The customer confirms the answer worked, or asks for nothing more after Fin's last answer
Procedure handoff$0.99Fin completes a Procedure you set up to end in a handoff to a person or a workflow
Disqualification$0.99Fin finds that a prospect doesn't meet your qualification criteria
Qualification$0.99Fin matches a prospect to your criteria and routes them
Self-serve routing$0.99Fin routes a prospect to an outcome you marked as self-serve

When Fin Charges and When It Doesn't

Fin bills nothing when the customer asks for a person, when your rules escalate the conversation, or when a Procedure fails. Spam costs nothing too, and neither does a conversation the customer abandons after a clarifying question. Intercom drops a resolution from the bill if the customer returns for more help in the same conversation, even across billing periods.

Turn on information collection, though, and Intercom bills a resolution when a customer asks for a person and then goes quiet.

If a customer leaves after Fin's reply without asking for more help, Intercom bills an assumed resolution. On other help desks, Fin treats 24 hours of silence after its last answer as leaving.

Intercom lets you set a cap on Fin outcomes. Once you hit it, Fin stops answering new and open conversations until the billing period ends.

Chart of which Fin conversations Intercom bills: $0.99 outcomes, $9.99 qualifications, and $0 for escalations, failed Procedures and spam.
Intercom bills at most one Fin outcome per conversation. Handoffs your rules trigger, failed Procedures and spam cost nothing.

Fin Voice and Fin on Another Help Desk

Intercom lists Fin Voice at $1.99 per voice outcome and sells it through its sales team. Your telephony provider sends its own bill for the calls.

Teams on Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot or Freshdesk can run Fin without Intercom seats at $0.99 per outcome. Fin's help center lists a $49 monthly base that includes 50 outcomes, and Fin's pricing page shows a 50-outcome monthly minimum.

What Does Intercom Copilot Cost?

Unlimited Intercom Copilot costs $35 per teammate a month ($29 billed yearly). Every full seat also gets 10 Copilot conversations a month at no charge.

Intercom charges only for teammates you switch on for unlimited use, and lite seats can't use Copilot. On a yearly plan, you can't remove those teammates before the next billing period.

Copilot works alongside your human agents in the inbox, while Fin works with customers. Copilot 2, in early access in October 2026, can update a ticket, log an issue or change a record once the teammate approves.

Intercom Add-On Prices, Channel Usage and Contract Terms

Intercom bills the Pro add-on from $100 a month per workspace. Proactive Support Plus costs $99 a month with 500 messages included. Intercom also bills by use for email campaigns, SMS, phone calls and the WhatsApp messages you send.

  • Pro add-on. Pro starts at $100 a month per workspace and covers analysis of 500 conversations. Intercom's help articles give two different rates above that volume, so get your rate from sales in writing.
  • Operator. Pro bundles Operator, Intercom's operations agent, with CX Score, Topics Explorer, Trends, Recommendations, Monitors and Workforce Management. Extra Operator credits cost $0.01 each.
  • Proactive Support Plus. $99 a month covers 500 messages for product tours, posts, surveys and mobile push. Messages past 500 cost $0.07 to $0.0175 each by volume, and Intercom charges $1,188 upfront on yearly billing.
  • SMS. US texts cost $0.06 a segment for the first 500, falling to $0.01 above 100,000. No plan includes free segments.
  • Phone. A US local number costs $1 a month and a toll-free number $2. Local inbound calls cost $0.012 a minute, and outbound calls to the US $0.022.
  • WhatsApp. Existing customers move to per-message WhatsApp billing on 1 December 2026; new customers may start at signing. US service replies cost 0.40 cents after Meta's 1,000 free service messages per number a month, and US marketing messages 2.92 cents.
  • Email campaigns. Bulk email starts at $0.045 an email for the first 100 and falls with volume.
  • Free channels. Live chat and inbound email are free on all three plans, as are inbound WhatsApp, Telegram and Discord. Social channels come with Advanced and Expert.
  • Premier Support. Premier Support, Rapid Response and custom API limits need a sales contract, and Intercom publishes no price for them.
  • Trial. The 14-day trial needs no card and covers your chosen plan plus Fin, Pro, Copilot and Proactive Support Plus. Intercom has no free plan.
  • Early Stage program. New customers with under $10M raised and fewer than 15 employees get Advanced with 6 seats, Copilot, Pro and Proactive Support Plus. That costs $65, $451.50 and $677.25 a month in years one, two and three, with 300 Fin outcomes a month in year one.

How Much Does Intercom Cost for 3, 10 and 25 Seats?

With unlimited Copilot and Fin outcomes on half its conversations, a 3-seat Advanced team pays $649.50 a month ($589.50 billed yearly). On the same terms, a 10-seat team pays $2,330 ($2,130) and a 25-seat team $5,577.50 ($5,077.50). The totals assume 500, 2,000 and 4,500 monthly conversations at October 2026 list prices, before usage charges, Pro and Proactive Support Plus.

On yearly billing, seats and Copilot for the 10-seat team come to $13,680 a year, before any Fin outcomes.

Intercom Pricing Calculator: Your Own Bill in Four Steps

  1. Multiply full seats by the plan price. Teammates who only add notes and view reports can take the lite seats that Advanced and Expert include.
  2. Add $35 a month ($29 billed yearly) for each teammate on unlimited Copilot.
  3. Add $0.99 for each Fin outcome you expect, or $9.99 for each qualification.
  4. Add Pro, Proactive Support Plus and any SMS, phone, WhatsApp or email campaign usage.

Each new hire adds a seat, plus Copilot if they need unlimited use. That costs $74 a month on Essential, $134 on Advanced and $174 on Expert ($58, $114 and $161 billed yearly). The yearly figures apply when you raise your committed seat count.

Which Intercom Costs Rise With Hires and Fin Resolutions?

Two of Intercom's four meters, seats and Copilot, rise with headcount, and Fin's outcome line rises as Fin resolves more.

  • Seats. Every teammate who replies to customers needs a full seat, from $39 a month ($29 billed yearly). Lite seats can view, note and report, but they can't reply.
  • Copilot. Unlimited Copilot costs $35 per teammate a month ($29 billed yearly), so assist spend rises with each hire.
  • Fin outcomes. Fin bills $0.99 per outcome, so the AI line climbs as Fin resolves more.
  • Add-ons and usage. Pro, proactive messages, SMS, phone and WhatsApp each add a line that moves with volume.

Hire two people in the quarter Fin starts resolving more, and three meters climb together. Two Advanced hires with Copilot add $268 a month ($228 billed yearly when you raise committed seats) before Fin's line moves.

Bar chart of what one more teammate adds to an Intercom bill: $74, $134 or $174 a month, against $0 on Helply.
One hire with unlimited Copilot adds $74, $134 or $174 a month ($58, $114 or $161 billed yearly when you raise committed seats).

What Would the Same Teams Pay on Helply Instead of Intercom?

At list prices, a team of 10 pays Helply $769 a month ($654 billed yearly) if its AI works 2,000 B2B conversations. The same team pays $2,330 a month ($2,130 billed yearly) on Intercom Advanced, with unlimited Copilot and 1,000 Fin outcomes.

Before Helply, the team at MyBaggage, a logistics company in Belfast, checked statuses by hand all day. Anthony Gallagher says they kept "only hearing about problem shipments when the customer was already upset." "We were always a step behind."

MyBaggage supports its customers across web, email and WhatsApp. Helply's Support Agent pulled live tracking, delivery and customs data into its answers and settled 77% of customer questions end to end.

Helply is an AI-native customer support platform. Ticketing, live chat, a help center, reporting, customer records and workflows all sit in its full help desk. B2B software teams can run it, and so can B2C, ecommerce and marketplace businesses.

In Helply's help desk, your team sets response and resolution targets, and Helply prioritizes conversations on its own. Intercom keeps SLAs for Expert, at $139 a seat ($132 billed yearly).

Three AI agents work in the help desk beside your team, on every plan:

  • Answers and acts for customers. The Support Agent works every channel: it investigates, answers, takes action and can resolve a request end to end.
  • Drafts and acts for your team. The Assist Agent writes reply drafts inside the conversation, and your team can ask it to run supported Actions.
  • Turns signals into action. Background Agents alert a teammate, update a system, create work or start a workflow when something needs attention. The Knowledge Agent spots gaps and stale articles in your knowledge base for your team to review.

Your team directs the Assist Agent's Actions, reviews the Knowledge Agent's flags and can reject any draft before it reaches a customer.

Every Helply plan has unlimited users, so support hires, engineers and success managers can join at no extra cost.

On Intercom, the same three jobs map to Fin per outcome, Copilot per teammate and Operator inside Pro. On Helply, all three draw on one credit block.

Each AI action takes 1, 4 or 12 credits, depending on how much the AI has to gather. A reply drafted from the thread costs 1. Checking one or two connected systems costs 4, and an investigation that ends in a judgment call costs 12.

Retries, failed actions and rejected drafts use no credits. Spam, no-touch tickets, knowledge base indexing and setup work, such as writing skills, are free as well.

To size a block, multiply monthly conversations by about 4 or about 7 credits, whichever fits the support you run. That puts 1,000 B2B conversations a month near the 7,000-credit block.

Helply Credit Blocks by Monthly Conversations and Support Type

Monthly conversations Helply's AI worksB2B queue: block at about 7 credits eachB2C queue: block at about 4 credits each
500$249 ($212 yearly), 4,000-credit block$139 ($118 yearly), 2,000-credit block
1,000$399 ($339 yearly), 7,000-credit block$249 ($212 yearly), 4,000-credit block
2,000$769 ($654 yearly), 15,000-credit block$589 ($501 yearly), 11,000-credit block
4,500$1,549 ($1,317 yearly), 32,000-credit block$1,079 ($917 yearly), 22,000-credit block

Past 32,000 credits, about 4,500 B2B or 9,000 B2C conversations a month, Helply prices volume through sales. You can move to a bigger block at any point in the cycle and pay the pro rata difference.

Intercom vs. Helply: Monthly Bill for Teams of 3, 10 and 25

Each figure is a monthly bill at list prices on monthly billing, with yearly billing in parentheses.

Team and monthly conversationsIntercom Advanced + unlimited Copilot + Fin on half the conversationsHelply, AI on every B2B conversationHelply, AI on every B2C conversation
3 people, 500 conversations$649.50 ($589.50)$249 ($212), 4,000 credits$139 ($118), 2,000 credits
10 people, 2,000 conversations$2,330 ($2,130)$769 ($654), 15,000 credits$589 ($501), 11,000 credits
25 people, 4,500 conversations$5,577.50 ($5,077.50)$1,549 ($1,317), 32,000 credits$1,079 ($917), 22,000 credits

The Helply figures cover AI on every conversation in the queue. Put AI on part of the queue, and a smaller block covers it.

On Intercom Advanced with unlimited Copilot, each support agent you hire adds $134 a month ($114 billed yearly when you raise committed seats). On Helply, a new hire adds nothing to the bill.

When Does Intercom Cost Less Than Helply?

Intercom costs less for one person answering by hand. It can also cost less for a small team with few Fin outcomes on a big queue, when Helply's AI works every conversation. Intercom suits startups that qualify for Early Stage and teams that want product tours beside support.

  • One person, no AI. One Essential seat costs $39 a month ($29 billed yearly), or $29 ($19) at the new-customer price. Helply's smallest block costs $49 ($42 billed yearly), so a solo team without AI pays less on Intercom.
  • An early-stage startup. New customers with under $10M raised and fewer than 15 employees pay $65 a month in year one, then $451.50 in year two. In year one, that price covers Advanced with 6 seats, Copilot, Pro and 300 Fin outcomes a month.
  • A small team, a big queue and few Fin outcomes. Three Essential seats without unlimited Copilot, plus 400 Fin outcomes from 2,000 conversations, cost $513 a month ($483 billed yearly). On Helply, AI on all 2,000 B2B conversations takes the 15,000-credit block, which costs $769 a month ($654 billed yearly).
  • Product tours and in-app messages. Proactive Support Plus adds product tours, posts and surveys for $99 a month on top of seats, with 500 messages included.

Fin bills only its outcomes, while Helply's credits also cover AI drafts your team sends to customers. Keep Fin outcomes low and Copilot off, and Intercom can come out cheaper.

To keep Intercom and swap only Fin, compare the Intercom Fin alternatives by price and route. For other seat-priced help desks, see Zendesk's plans and AI fees or Freshdesk's plans and Freddy AI costs.

Three cases comparing Intercom and Helply bills billed yearly: one person without AI, 3 seats with few Fin outcomes, and 10 seats.
Billed yearly at list prices, Intercom wins for one person without AI and for a small team with few Fin outcomes. At 10 seats with Fin on half, Helply costs $1,476 less.

Questions to Ask Intercom Before You Sign

Put these to Intercom's sales team and keep the answers in writing.

  • Information collection. Ask how your Fin settings treat a customer who asks for a person and then goes quiet.
  • Assumed resolutions. Ask how long Fin waits before it counts a quiet customer as an assumed resolution.
  • Fin minimums. Ask whether your contract sets a minimum number of Fin outcomes each month.
  • Seat changes. Ask how you can reduce yearly seats, and what you'll pay for seats you add mid-term.
  • Monthly terms on Expert. Ask whether you can pay for Expert monthly, or only yearly.
  • Extra lite seats. Ask whether you can add more lite seats, and at what price, since Intercom publishes none.
  • Pro rate. Ask what Pro costs at your monthly conversation count, since Intercom's help articles list two different rates above 500.
  • Operator credits. Ask how many Operator credits come with Pro each month, and when the $0.01 overage starts.
  • WhatsApp rates. Ask which WhatsApp rates apply to your account and from when, since new customers may start on the new rates at signing.

Sign the Intercom Quote or Choose Helply?

Sign with Intercom if product tours and surveys matter to your team, or if you need Fin Voice on the phone line. Pick Intercom too if one person answers by hand, since one Essential seat costs less than Helply's smallest block.

Choose Helply if you plan to hire or expect Fin's outcome line to keep growing. In Helply's help desk, the Assist Agent drafts replies for each teammate, and the Support Agent can settle requests end to end. You pay for that AI work from one credit block, and with unlimited users, hiring doesn't change the bill.

MyBaggage onboarded in five steps: bring in support content, find the gaps, fill them, launch, then improve. Its team redirected bandwidth to complex, high-priority cases.

Start with one queue and a block that fits it, from $49 a month ($42 billed yearly). If you're on Intercom today, run Helply beside it on that slice and check Helply's answers and actions. Switch the other channels when you're ready.

Your monthly ceiling starts out equal to the block price, and each team or mailbox can get its own allowance. With auto top-up on, Helply adds credits at your block's rate, up to the ceiling you choose. Turn top-up off, and AI work pauses at that ceiling while your team keeps answering.

At cutover, you pick which supported customer, conversation and knowledge data moves over through Helply's Intercom migration, and Helply's team can help.

Year one costs $65 a month for Advanced with 6 seats, Copilot, Pro and 300 Fin outcomes a month. The price rises to $451.50 a month in year two and $677.25 in year three.

  • Yes, for seats and unlimited Copilot. Paying yearly drops Essential from $39 to $29 a seat a month, Advanced from $99 to $85 and Expert from $139 to $132. Unlimited Copilot falls from $35 to $29 per teammate, and on a yearly plan you can't remove seats or add-ons until renewal.

  • A team of 10 pays Helply $769 a month ($654 billed yearly) at list prices, if its AI works 2,000 B2B conversations. On Intercom, 10 Advanced seats with unlimited Copilot and 1,000 Fin outcomes cost $2,330 a month ($2,130 billed yearly). Helply's bill stays the same when the team hires, since every plan has unlimited users.
